Grandma's Apple Pie

Apple pie is a delicious treat for any time of the year!  Today I am going to share Grandma's Apple Pie recipe.  This recipe is a family favorite!  I hope y'all enjoy!
Grandma's Apple Pie
Crust:
2 cups flour
2/3 çup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6-7 tablespoons water
Filling:
5-6 large apples
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
sprinkle of nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Crust: In a mixing bowl mix together flour, salt, and cinnamon.  Cut in shortening until pieces are the size of small peas.  Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of water over part of the mixture; gently toss with a fork.  Push to the side of the bowl.  Repeat till all of the dough is moistened.  Divide dough in half, form each half into a ball.  On a lightly floured surface roll out one ball, going from the center out, forming a circle to fit your pie pan.  Repeat on the second ball of dough.  Wrap the first pastry lightly around a floured rolling pin, unroll into the pie pan.  Filling: Slice the apples and put them into a second mixing bowl.  In a seperate bowl mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  Then add it to the apples.  Pour the Apple filling into the pie pan that the crust is in.  Dot the apple filling with the butter.  After that take the second rolled out crust and roll on to the top of the filling just as you did with the first crust.  Trim the edges of the crust and flute the crust. Cut slits or make a design on the top crust to allow steam to escape.  For an extra touch you can brush some milk on top and lghtly sprinkle with sugar.  Bake at 400 degrees for ten minutes, then turn the oven down to 350 degrees and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.  Enjoy!♥
